Squirrel Monkey Forest
The Amazon Rainforest is the richest tropical forest in the world in terms of biodiversity. It is so rich, that more than one-third of all species on our planet call it home. Experience what it might be like to wander through the rainforest of the Amazon at the Squirrel Monkey Forest. As you stroll through this tropical exhibit, check out what monkey business our troop of free-ranging squirrel monkeys are up to!
The most abundant monkey species of the Amazon rainforest, the squirrel monkey is commonly found near large bodies of water, spending most of its life in the forest canopy. Observe it making bounding leaps from tree to tree hunting for fruit, flower nectar and insects. Listen out for its variety of calls, one of which sounds like “chuck-chuck”. That’s monkey language to indicate your whereabouts to the rest of the troop.
